It's more difficult to take a picture of the project now that it has fixative on it - there's a sheen that's reflecting the light and making it difficult to see the details.
Anyway, now that it is covered with it's first layer of fixative, I was able to work with the dark details with more confidence and accuracy! I worked on adding more details to the sandy portion and shading on the ammonites themselves. There's just a little more work to do on those two areas, but it's almost done. I'm going to add a little more white to the ammonites as well, and then I will put in the background. I will likely add fixative at least twice more before this project is done, but it's coming along nicely I think :)
